ATM Cave

ATM Cave
Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave

Referred to as ATM cave.  ATM cave is the #1 sacred cave in the world according to National Geographic. .

You have to do a 40 minute hike with 3 river crossings to get to the cave then you have to swim into the cave from there.  The cave tour is also a wet one, which is pretty nice though, because you keep nice and cool.

This cave tour is one of the most popular in Belize according to Tripadvisor.  Check out what they say.
Getting to ATM Cave:

Here are Important things to remember:
  • You will need to go to the cave with a guide that is specifically certified for ATM cave.  This is a specialty license and there are only about 20 such guides in the country.
  • This caving experience IS NOT one of those paved path cave tours.....you need to be somewhat fit to navigate this natural cave.
  • When you get to the sacred part of the cave you will be required to remove your footwear and only wear socks at that point
  • YOU CANNOT BRING A CAMERA - this is because somebody dropped one and broke an artifact.
  • You will get wet.  You have to do 3 river crossings and you have to swim into the cave.  It is a wet hike in the cave itself.
  • You can expect to pay $100-$200 USD per person (including transportation, lunch, helmet, headlamp and park fees).
