St. Herman's Blue Hole

St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park

St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park is located right off of the Hummingbird Highway. (You may be confused because Belize is famous for the "Blue Hole", but that famous one is in the ocean.)  St. Herman's Blue Hole is a big national park and there are several things to do here:
  • Take a guided hiking/cave tubing trip in St. Herman's Cave.
  • Take a refreshing dip in the Blue Hole, a nice, clear spring-fed natural swimming pool.
  • Experience world class spelunking in the beautiful Crystal Cave.
  • Go hiking - several hikes are available.  You can even hike to a tower lookout here.
Getting to St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park:

Here are Important things to remember:
  • There is a park entrance fee of $4 USD.  That is all you need to pay if you are hiking or swimming in the Blue Hole.  Touring the caves requires a tour guide, and the price of any tour you take will include the park fees.
  • You can walk 200 yards into St. Herman's Cave unguided, but you need a guide for the complete cave experience.
  • St. Herman's Cave is wet and you will be in and out of a tube.  St. Herman's is fairly easy, although not the most spectacular.
  • To go to Crystal Cave you need a guide that is specifically certified for Caving here. The cave is dry, though it is warm, often slick, and strenuous.  You need to be physically fit for this tour.
  • When you get to the sacred part of the Crystal Cave you will be required to remove your footwear and only wear socks at that point.....so bring some socks!
  • YOU CAN BRING A CAMERA here, but please be careful with it or they will be forbidden like in ATM Cave.
