Cave Tubing

Cave Tubing

Belize has many caves. There are some you can hike into, but here we are talking about caves you tour in a canoe or tube.

These types of caves are more easily accessible to persons of all fitness levels. Still, there might be a hike to get to the cave, and there is no lighting other than the headlamp on your helmet.

Let's look the caves you would tour by watercraft that are accessible from Hopkins:
  1. Barton Creek Cave - Located in the western Cayo District.
    1. You canoe into this cave. It is a short walk (not hike) to where you get in the boat.
    2. You can expect to pay about $100-$200 US dollars per person to go here.  That would include transportation, park fees, gear, and lunch.
    3. You can bring your camera into the cave.
    4. You will see incredible rock formations, and a few Mayan artifacts.
  2. St. Herman's Cave - Located in St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park.
    1. There is a short walk to the cave, then you hike and river tube inside the cave.
    2. You can expect to pay about $50-$75 US dollars per person to go here. That would include transportation, park fees, gear, and possibly lunch.  This destination might be packaged with other stops, making the price more.
    3. You can bring your camera into this cave.
    4. You will see rock formations, cave wildlife, and a few Mayan artifacts.
